Why does eHP matter
When receiving a 100,000 hit, a 2x HP is essentially the same as a 50% shield.
So when is it better to have a high (HP multiplier) or a high (Shield multiplier) in a leader skill?
Even though our meta’s (2)RoyalNaut teams have 25.0 eHP,
they cannot tank a 100% gravity without resist awakenings or active skill shields.
Aggregate also has 25.0 eHP, however all stemming from its 96% shield [from 2x 80% shields].
Lets compare:
ROYALNAUT PRO: eHP always ACTIVE due to it deriving strictly from the HP stat buff and none from shield.
AGGREGATE CON: eHP is orb activation dependent, so failure to activate will nullify its eHP from 25.0 -> 1.0
AGGREGATE CON: You are not allowed to mess up on teams with eHP heavily reliant on the shield factor.
Like deer in front of headlights vs enemy.
ROYALNAUT PRO: There is no “mess up”, you just do less damage than you intended to.
AGGREGATE PRO: Dies at 2500% gravity
ROYALNAUT CON: Dies at 100% gravity
(lots of late game spawns do a X% gravity followed by a hit in one sequence)
(there are other AGGREGATE PROs vs ROYALNAUT like poison/spinner control but are irrelevant to the post 🙂 sorry Greg)
Note that due to many leaders having mix of both [stats / shield] effects, the consideration process a lot more less polarizing than the example here (0% shield vs 96% shield).
SO WHAT IS TYPE BETTER?
You already know. It just depeeeeends. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
How do I calculate it?
eHP = HP multiplier x Shield effectiveness
or
eHP = HP x [ 1 / (1-Shield%) ]
Example
Norza x Tsukuyomi
Norza has 1x HP, Tsuku has 3x HP.
Norza has 70% shield, Tsuku has 25% shield.
First we have to get the total shield, so at first with Norza, we take 30% damage,
and then from Tsuku we take 75% from that number.
150,000 hit x 0.30 x 0.75 = 33,750 hit
33,750 is 22.5% of 150,000
So including both their shields of 30% and 75% we end up taking only 22.5% damage.
The inverse would be damage shielded 100%-22.5% = 77.5% total shield
With the original formula
eHP = HP x [ 1 / (1-77.5%) ]
eHP = 3 x [ 1 / 0.225 ]
eHP = 3 x [4.444]
eHP = 13.33
